Mrs. Showalter is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she studied Music Education with a dual-concentration in Bass Trombone and Voice.  Previously, Mrs. Showalter earned a degree and certifications in Elementary and Special Education, as well as minors in English and Fine Arts from Saint Francis University.  In addition, she holds a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Point Park University.

To enrich her music teaching practice, Mrs. Showalter has participated in a number of specialized graduate-level music courses.  She holds the Orff Schulwerk Certification, after three years of study at George Mason University.  In addition, she has studied with Dr. John M. Feierabend and is certified in both his First Steps in Music and Levels I & II of his Kodaly-based Conversational Solfege approaches.  Mrs. Showalter has also completed three credit hours of coursework at the Marta Sanchez Dalcroze Training Center at Carnegie Mellon University and is trained in utilizing the Little Kids Rock Modern Band Curriculum.

Mrs. Showalter has been teaching at Canon-Mac since 2013 and loves being able to guide the students of Canon-McMillan School District to develop their musicianship through moving, speaking, singing, playing, creating, and performing.  When she isn't teaching or performing music, Mrs. Showalter enjoys reading, exercising, papercrafting, cooking, and traveling.  She lives with her husband, who is an American Sign Lanugage interpreter, and their cat, Cheddar.
